TGIF. I finally had the time to hit the gym and go out for drinks Friday night. Since I was meeting people after, I decided to just do a quick work out.

I was in time for the last day of my gym’s monthly challenge workout. Usually, these challenge workouts take about 15 minutes tops, but hit all parts of your body, leaving you literally breathless. For January, the challenge was to complete the workout below in 10 minutes or less:

20 reps of:
- High Knee Drills
- Ali Shuffle
- Push-ups (the not-girly kind)
- Quick Feet Drills
- Burpees (!!!!!!!)
- Mountain Climber Exercises (!!!!!! also)
- 3kg Medicine Ball Bounce
- TRX Low Rows (below anchor point)

15 reps of:
- Alternate Press (12-lb weights)
- Squats (with 12-lb weights)
- 3-point Lunge (with 3kg medicine ball)
- “Bus Driver” core exercise

50 reps of:
- Kettle Bell Swings (12kg kettle bells)

100 reps of:
- Jump pull-ups
- skip rope

Normally this isn’t so difficult if you had, like, 30 minutes to an hour to finish everything, with water breaks in between but having to finish faster than 10 minutes (or in my case, faster than the female record time which was 9 mins 32 secs) was indeed a challenge. My arms and legs were jelly-fied, and my heart felt like it was going to beat itself out of my chest. It was pretty solid.

I met up with Don and some friends for drinks after. It was a much-needed kick back for 2 grueling weeks at work. An acoustic group was playing at the time. Of course I know that my boyfriend is more than gifted in the guitar-playing/singing department so when the band’s vocalist asked if anyone wanted to jam with them, I pointed at him. He was called to the front and did his thing. He wowed the crowd (and me), as always.

Bruce Jenner says he will not pressure his daughters, Kendall and Kylie, to go to college:

“If they want to go to college, certainly, I think it’s a good idea. But I’m not the advocate of, ‘You’ve got to go to college!’ I think by the time they graduate from high school, they will…

JM and Cands. Seeing these guys made my day. Cands was my blockmate, thesis partner, forever seatmate, and college partner-in-crime. I am close to all my college friends, but there is something about my friendship with her that will always make her stand out. I met JM through work about two years ago, when he still wrote for a geeky magazine and I was in PR. When I called him “Sir JM” over the phone when I did my first round of follow-ups for my client, he snapped at me and told me not to call him “sir” because I was probably older than him. We met in person and we hit it off because he was really easy to talk to.

I haven’t spent time with these two in months, so when I learned that they both happened to be around my workplace (they live and work reeeeallly far away from me), I jumped at the chance for a quick bite to eat. We were checked out cute guys in polo-barongs (well, Cands and I, at least), and exchanged stories of heartbreaks and hobbies.

It was great laughing and catching up.

Makes me miss most of my friends.

Cute babies. I have posted about the birth of my nephew Liam and showed some of his first photos a few days back. Well, there are more of them now, and they are out to make your day.

Here’s a bunch with his very playful 2-year old kuya Adam.

Jenny’s belated birthday surprise. Chocolate cake and hugs for my funny colleague on her (belated) birthday!

#Day 24

Nap time. I just got up from what was the best 2-hour nap I’ve taken in so long. Yes, it is worthy of a post because as I’ve already mentioned, work has already taken over my life so much so that I stay late in the office and actually have trouble sleeping because work is all I think about before I drift to sleep and when I wake up in the morning. And it’s not like I can help it. Still I am told that I need to focus on work.

It sucks. I used to like going to sleep. Now it’s just difficult.

I wish I can sleep through February.

Family Day. Spent some time with family time on Sunday with my folks and siblings. Had lunch over at Crisostomo (best adobo and leche flan I’ve ever had) then headed over to my cousin’s house for some drinking.

Photo shows dad playing the famous Temple Run, my sister chewing with her mouth open and the awesome Merienda menu of Crisostomo (turon fondue!!!).

Good times.
